A standard Polish marriage used to be a three or yet four time event. Frequently, it was held outside in parks, forests and buildings. They were a celebration of life and the bounty of character. As the pair leave the church, guests shower them with coins and grains, to give them luck and prosperity. They then change into their group garments. It is also conventional to chuck little, circular coins into the couple’s scalp– whoever collects the most will be in charge of their finances.
